6 foul-mouthed TV moms we love
Being a mom is hard work. So letting loose with a verbal tirade that would make a sailor blush is understandable every now and again. Like these potty-mouthed mothers available to stream in this NSFW selection of series (and a movie.)
Andrea Warren is played by Andrea Savage and when it comes to rude and crude and lewd, the character is most definitely a savage. She’s floating in her marriage, she’s struggling to be a mom, she’s trying to make her work actually work out and she has still got to deal with the other moms in her leafy Los Angeles suburb.
Is it any surprise then when the occasional quiet cursing fit explodes into a verbal volley of very bad naughty words? Not at all! The two seasons will leave moms in the audience jotting down swear phrases that will suit their situations perfectly, while still sympathising with Andrea and her all-too-familiar situation. The best thing about falling apart as a working mother is that you can do it as a group. Like Kate, Anne, Jenny and Frankie, who’re in different jobs but experience the same struggles. They’re left to make meals, clean the house, shuttle the kids around, go to work and still baby everyone else.
So when the awesome foursome get together, three things are guaranteed: wine, venting and verbose usage of potty words. If you can think of a swearword, it’s been said at one or another stage during the four seasons so far as the ladies lumber on and try to maintain their sanity in the s**t-storms that are their lives. This Aussie series follows the very, very real adventures of Audrey, a new mum whose struggles are extremely relatable to anyone who’s sat up through the night with a newborn. In the first season, Audrey and her partner, Jeremy, try to get a handle on the whole parent thing, and in the second season, they face a few difficult decisions. The Letdown is hilarious, no-holds-barred, messy haired, no makeup comedy that’ll be oh-too-familiar to honest parents everywhere.
US President Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) is cool, calm and collected for official White House duties. But when the world isn’t watching, she’s dropping F-bombs left, right and centre. No one is spared her sharp, insensitive tongue – her team, the public, international heads of state… even her lesbian daughter feels the spitefulness of Selina’s fury as the stresses of being the most powerful woman in the world become too much over the seven seasons. If you think that vampires exploding spectacularly, Sookie Stackhouse and Bill Compton’s saucy sexcapes and even Lafayette’s booty-shaking in the kitchen is the best part of True Blood, think again. Kristin Bauer van Straten is supremely sinful as Pam, the part owner of Fangtasia vampire nightclub. She’s spawned plenty of vampire offspring during her nighttime forays, but she’s definitely not someone you’d choose as a maternal figure.
She’s been around for centuries and her disdain for humans is matched only by the razors on her tongue. And the sweeter and more friendly the character – like Sookie – the more Pam is bound to hate them… and tell them to their faces. “I’m so over Sookie and her precious fairy vagina and her unbelievably stupid name. F**k Sookie!” (Showmax)
Mila Kunis and her besties lead the Christmas dis-cheer by swearing so much that Old Saint Nick wouldn’t even bring them a lump of coal for Christmas. So many swearwords, so little time! (Showmax)
