6 movies and series starring Zac Efron
Zac Efron has gone from silly-hairstyle singing teen in the High School Musical movies to a multi-talented Jack of all trades. And boy, has he grown up too! You can stream your fill of Zac, whether you’re after a serial killer autobiography, silly teen comedies, gross-out humour or a lifestyle doccie that’ll make you want to pack up your rat-race life and become a beach bum.
Here’s how to Zac attack your streaming viewing…
Zac plays real-life serial killer Ted Bundy, who went from slicing his way through law textbooks at varsity to slicing through bodies across the US. This 2019 movie tells the story from the eyes of Liz (Lily Collins), Ted’s ex-girlfriend, who had no idea she was living with and raising her young daughter in the same house as one of the US’s most infamous murderers.
Zac’s performance is hypnotic although critics claimed his attractiveness almost glamourised Ted. Seriously?
Bad Neighbors & Bad Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (Showmax)
These two movies will have you laughing for all the wrong reasons. Nothing is too crass, too low, too mean or too cruel. Zac plays Teddy Sanders, president of the Delta Psi Beta frat house, which is a little too rowdy for new parents Mac and Kelly (Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne), who move in next door. Cue all-out war in the first movie as Teddy and the couple try to make life as unbearable for each other as possible in the hopes that one will move.
If only they knew… about the sequel. Cue a two-year time hop and the trio call a truce when they’re re-united as neighbours and face new neighbours from hell. This will make your neighbours from hell look like a bunch of sweet puppies!
Zac Efron’s Pool Party (Prime Video)
It’s a quickie dip in Zac’s pool – literally. Zac and his celeb pals all play themselves (there’s everyone from singers Lance Bass and Joel Madden, to reality stars Brody Jenner and Nicole Ritchie, and actors like Vanessa Hudgens and Brittany Snow) as Zac’s uncle crashes his pool party.
If you’ve ever wanted to know if all celebs are friends, let this answer that question. And yes, a house full of who’s who in Tinseltown is as cool as you think.
Down To Earth With Zac Efron (Netflix)
This eight-episode web series follow Zac and his bestie Darin Olien as they travel around the world (France, Puerto Rico, England, Peru and more) learning about culture, tourism, travel, green energy and the future of sustainable living.
Who knew that something as mundane as milking a goat could look sexy. Don’t believe us? Watch Zac do it. And wait until he’s in his Speedo – guys will want to be him, girls will want to… you know.
The Lucky One (Netflix)
Zac’s got his serious boots on as US Marine Logan Thibault, who suffers PTSD after witnessing a fellow Marine being killed in action. Discharged and sent home, Logan has one hope keeping him alive: finding the woman in a photo that he found while in Iraq. All he knows is that she lives somewhere in the US and she’s his “guardian angel” who saved him during the fatal attack on his unit.
But what’s he going to do when he finds her? Knock on her door and tell her that her photo saved his life? This is a romantic drama that’ll have you bawling your eyes out.
17 Again (Netflix)
Ever wanted to go back in time and be a teen all over again? Zac gets that as the younger version of Matthew Perry’s character Mike, a 30-something loser who blames one specific moment in time (a high school basketball game) for ruining his dreams.
Now with a second chance at the life he dreamed of having, Mike does everything he never got to do as a teen the first time… like being cool.
