American Dad! S14
Seth MacFarlane’s genius animated series American Dad! is a must if you’re a fan of irreverent, dry, in-your-face un-PC humour.
The episodes take shots at anything and everything in the news, so you don’t have to have watched it before to dive straight in.
Family patriarch and super-patriotic CIA agent Stan Smith (voiced by Seth, who also provides dialogue for Roger, the Smith family’s live-in alien) starts off Season 14 being let down when Father’s Day is overlooked. And it’s all downhill from there as his family let him down episode after episode while he continues to protect the USA.
After 13 seasons, production company TBS was so right in greenlighting Seasons 14 and 15 at the same time (it’s been renewed to Season 17 as well) and the show is a fan-favourite in Hollywood – how else did Seth get celebs like Rosie O’Donnell, Wiz Khalifa, Walton Goggins (The Righteous Gemstones) and Susan Sarandon to literally beg for voice roles?
Just a note for parents, from Tony Nigro at commonsensemedia.com: “The show’s animated style gives a false impression of its appropriateness for kids. Sexual content, violence and language push the envelope on acceptability, making it a less-than-ideal choice for tweens and young teens.”
