Behold the new trailer for HBO’s The New Pope
All nine episodes of HBO’s upcoming series The New Pope will land on Showmax in February 2020, and HBO has just released the new teaser. It’s the follow up to The Young Pope starring Jude Law (currently streaming on Showmax), and is about the man who was selected to follow on as pontiff from Law’s Pius XIII, an English intellectual aristocrat called Sir John Brannox, played by John Malkovich.
Once more directed by Paolo Sorrentino, the new series was previewed at the Venice Film Festival with a screening of the first two episodes, which were extremely well received by critics. The Guardian writes, “Sorrentino possesses style to burn and elegance to squander. The New Pope loops and darts from one gorgeous set piece to the next, whether it’s a religious tableau set to haunting dance music or a nocturnal stroll through a wintry Venice.”
In the meantime, while you wait for The New Pope to land on Showmax in February 2020, stream The Young Pope, starring Jude Law as the unconventional first American pontiff on Showmax.
