Fast Five is the fifth movie in franchise, and it’s also one of the biggest, not just because of the plot – the cast has been seriously beefed up.
Paul Walker and Vin Diesel are back as fast-driving car-heisting bad boys Brian O’Conner and Dominic Toretto. They’re with their crew in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and they’re plotting to rob a drug baron of billions of dollars… and they do it by stealing his bank vault. The. Whole. Vault.
Here’s the beefier element – Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson joins the franchise as hardcore super cop Luke Hobbs. Watching Dom and Hobbs butt heads is like watching two toddlers fighting over the same chew toy – entertaining as they try to out-do each other.
There’s loads of action, loads of fighting and most importantly: loads of driving fast. That’s a hit for fans, says Jeffrey M Anderson at commonsensemedia.com: “It has enough slam-bang, popcorn-munching action to keep fans happy. The bungled robbery and the has-to-be-seen-to-be-believed robbery are beautifully handled.”
