As each episode airs, the Mzansi Magic drama Ifalakhe continues to impress South African viewers, with its excellent production quality and the incredible performance of every actor. All we can say is, we’re yearning for more.
One of our faves: King Ngcuka
One character who has never failed to leave an impression ever since his debut on the show is Ngcuka, played by Thandanani Qwabe.
Ngcuka, the brother of the late king, is an evil and determined antagonist.
Now that he’s seated on the Okuhle throne, Ngcuka will stop at nothing to ensure that he remains the King of the Okuhle tribe for as long as possible.
He may play an unsavoury character, but Thandanani’s performance has garnered him legions of fans across the country.
The man behind the character
Thandanani is not only an actor but also a dancer and singer. The 32-year-old grew up in Kwa Nongoma in Kwa-Zulu Natal but went on to live in various townships across the province.
In 2008, he continued in his passion for the arts by enrolling at the Ekhaya Multi Art Centre for a 10-month course in the performing arts. His decision to study opened up acting opportunities for him, which included starring in independent local films.
