Here’s what we know about Netflix’s anime He-Man reboot
At Power-Con over the weekend, Kevin Smith announced an upcoming anime series that picks up right where the hit 80s era He-Man series left off. He’ll be the showrunner of the series titled “Masters of the Universe: Revelation”, set in the Mattel toy-inspired world.
For serious fans of Kevin Smith, He-Man and anime in general, here’s a video of his announcement (it’s over 40 minutes long, so grab a hot beverage and settle in):
“Brought to life with the most metal character designs Powerhouse Animation can contain in the frame, this is the Masters of the Universe story you always wanted to see as a kid!” – Kevin Smith, Masters of the Universe: Revelation showrunner
Executive Producer Rob David is the vice president of Mattel TV and author of “He-Man: the Eternity War.” Here’s what he had to say:
“Masters of the Universe has been a cultural phenomenon for generations, inspiring fans to discover their own power within,” David said. “Fans of this franchise have been waiting for the continuation of these characters, and Kevin Smith, as a Masters superfan himself, is the perfect champion and partner to expand the canon through a dynamic animated series on Netflix.”
We don’t know when the new show will be available for streaming, but in the meantime, here’s a pretty fantastic video of He-Man singing 4 Non Blondes’s What’s Going On. You’re welcome!
