Idols SA S15
15 seasons in, the judges have got inside jokes on their inside jokes. The audience too. There are the usual suspects – you can spot them a mile away on the hyperactive #IdolsSA Twitter feed, and you can see the newbies too. Some of them start out super cynical, but it doesn’t take long before they’re all up in the feels and fan-girl-guying all over the place. Whether it’s a smoothly delivered Somizi one-liner that’s caught their attention, or this week’s guest judge and gospel queen, Rebecca Malope – the conversion to regular Idols SA viewer is real.
Randall and Unathi are with Somizi on the judging panel as usual, but if Sis Ribs’ appearance is anything to go by, the great guests are going to be equally entertaining. If you missed the performance by the Mzansi Gay Choir, you’ve missed Monday’s most water-cooler moment, and you need to catch up, stat.
With his huge heart and gorgeous grin, ProVerb continues to hold the floor, to hold hands and will ultimately be holding on tight as we move through the audition phases and on to the Top 10.
And as for the Wooden Mic, watch and learn, or watch and laugh. It’s your call.
The first episode became available on DStv Now on Sunday 7 July.
