When her son leaves for college, 40-something divorcee Eve Fletcher finds herself at a crossroads. She has to redefine her life as a single woman, and she has just as much growing up to do as her son.
The romcom miniseries is based on the book of the same name by Tom Perrotta (he also wrote The Leftovers). Kathryn Hahn is picture-perfect as Eve. You’ll be rooting her to be happy and to figure out how to get the loving she desperately needs.
The show highlights the struggles that people go through after divorce and the awkwardness of dating, whether it’s about starting a relationship or just about sex. And it makes fun of them in a meaningful, touching way.
If only the world around Eve was toned down a bit, this would be the perfect romcom dramedy, writes Angelica Jade Bastién for vulture.com: “The series is at its most bracing when interrogating what happens when fantasies meet the oxygen of reality.”
