Netflix renews The Umbrella Academy for Season 2

We are here for Vanya and Klaus. And for Number Five, the world's most innocent-looking anarchist. We ain't fooled. By Zibuyile Dladla

If you haven’t watched the first season of The Umbrella Academy, then where have you been? We suggest you read our review and start getting excited for Season 2.

Like the season before it, Season 2 will have 10 one-hour episodes. Production is set to begin this winter in Toronto, Canada.

** WARNING: MASSIVE SPOILERS COMING **

The final episode of Season 1 ended dramatically as Vanya, the black sheep of the family, triggered the apocalypse. You would too if you found out your life was based on a lie. Sir Reginald, her father and founder of The Umbrella Academy, had convinced a young Vanya that she was the odd one out in the “family” as she possessed no special powers. There was no need for her to be a part of the academy.

Turns out: Vanya might have the strongest power of all her siblings.

When Vanya was much younger, Sir Reginald realised that her emotions were linked to her ability to create sound and convert it into energy. He deemed this ability to be too powerful and destructive; hence all the lying.

Finding out the truth causes Vanya to spiral into a rage of anger, destroying the house she and her siblings grew up in, almost killing them all, including their robot mother.

Unfortunately, Vanya does kill someone in the house: Pogo, aka the family’s primate butler. Pogo is killed for confessing that he knew of Vanya’s powers but refrained from telling her until it was too late.

Hell-bent on destroying everything around her, Vanya goes on a destructive spree before her siblings intervene.

The Umbrella Academy is based on the comic book series created and written by Gerard Way, illustrated by Gabriel Bá, and published by Dark Horse Comics.
