The Laundromat (2019)
A widow (Meryl Streep) investigates an insurance fraud, chasing leads to a pair of Panama City law partners (Gary Oldman and Antonio Banderas) exploiting the world’s financial system. Steven Soderbergh directs this drama about the ruthlessness of the 1% and the pitfalls of late-stage capitalism with a light touch, and it educates as well as entertains.
Entertainment Weekly says, “If a motley crew of movie stars is what it takes to shine more light on government malfeasance, then let Meryl carry that torch in a wig and a bucket hat.”
