The 4 most chilling thrillers to stream on internet TV

It's the genre that was made for binge-watching - no matter what time you have to get up for work tomorrow. By Fortress of Solitude

Some days, after a gruelling nine hours at work, you want to get home, put up your feet, and watch something that’ll get your heart beating faster and your mind racing like an F1 car.

While there are a plethora of TV shows to watch, a thriller will always hit that sweet spot. There’s nothing quite like uncovering a murder mystery or discovering that your favourite character isn’t who you thought they were.

The thing about thrillers is, they’re better to binge than anything else. Who wants to be left with a cliffhanger for weeks on end? No, these shows need to be digested and enjoyed in one sitting, no matter what time you need to get up for work tomorrow.

1 Bodyguard (Netflix)

Game of Thrones fans will instantly recognise alumnus Richard Madden in Bodyguard. While not as romantic as the Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston movie of the same name, Bodyguard’s central plot is the tumultuous relationship between bodyguard David Budd and Home Secretary Julia Montague.

Prepare for action, drama, and political intrigue, as this series contains has some of the best twists and most heart-stopping TV moments of recent times.

2 The Girl From St Agnes (Showmax)

This South African-produced thriller has attracted a lot of attention for its outstanding production value and remarkable plot.

The Girl From St Agnes is a Showmax Original that follows an investigation into the murder of a schoolgirl at a prestigious boarding school. There are numerous leads and several characters hiding secrets that are begging to be exposed.

Watch on Showmax.

3 YOU (Netflix)

On the surface, YOU appears to be a teen drama series about young love in New York City. However, the show quickly turns into a tense psychological thriller as you learn that Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) is obsessed with Guinevere Beck (Elizabeth Lail).

His obsession with her takes him down a dark path as he’ll stop at nothing to make sure that she’s all his. It’s downright creepy and you’ll look at your social media accounts in a whole new light.

4 HBO’s Sharp Objects (Showmax)

Gillian Flynn made a name for herself with the release of her novel Gone Girl. Of course, it was turned into a Hollywood blockbuster, starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike.

Well, Flynn is no one-hit wonder and wrote another smash-hit called Sharp Objects, which was turned into a series by HBO, starring Amy Adams as Camille Preaker, a reporter with psychological problems who heads back to her hometown to report on the murder of two young girls.
