Watch now

Stream Peter Jackson’s Tolkien trilogies and experience the whole journey alongside Bilbo, Frodo, Gandalf and their Fellowships. The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings movies won 18 Oscars and are both considered among the greatest movie franchises of all.

Set in the fictional world of Middle-earth and based on the classic, bestselling novel by Bloemfontein-born JRR Tolkien, The Hobbit trilogy stars Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, the reluctant hobbit recruited to join a quest to recover the dwarves’ treasure from the dragon Smaug. The cast includes Ian McKellan as Gandalf the Grey, Benedict Cumberbatch as the voice of the dragon, and Andy Serkis as Golem.

The Lord of the Rings follows hobbit Bilbo’s nephew, Frodo Baggins, as he and the Fellowship undertake a dangerous quest to destroy the One Ring and ensure the downfall of its maker, the Dark Lord Sauron.

The Hobbit trilogy

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012): Bilbo Baggins lived a peaceful life until the wizard Gandalf convinces him to join a quest to reclaim the Dwarven throne. Soon he is facing armies, monsters and even dragons.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013): The second in this adventure trilogy sees Bilbo and his fellow adventurers get closer to their goal, but not without orcs, giant spiders and worse standing in their way!

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014): Bilbo’s fantastic journey concludes, but not in a whimper. With a dragon to stop and an army attacking the adventurers, it’ll take a hobbit with a big heart to win!

The Lord of the Rings trilogy

The Lord of the Rings’ ensemble cast includes Elijah Wood, Sir Ian McKellen, Cate Blanchett, Sir Christopher Lee, Viggo Mortensen, Orlando Bloom, Hugo Weaving, Liv Tyler, Andy Serkis, Sean Bean, John Rhys-Davies, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd, and Dominic Monaghan.

The trilogy won 17 Oscars, grossed almost $3billion worldwide, and is still considered one of the most influential film series ever produced.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001): Peter Jackson brings J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic to life. A hobbit embarks on a quest to destroy the One Ring and the dark lord Sauron.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002): Peter Jackson’s epic tale gets even better as the fellowship and the hobbits battle to overcome impossible odds to complete their tasks.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003): Good takes on evil in this Oscar-winning epic. The hobbits try to destroy the One Ring while a war is waged for Middle-Earth.
