Watch Chasing the Sun online in South Africa

Stream the highly anticipated five-part docuseries on Showmax to get a behind-the-scenes look at the Springboks' path to RWC victory.

It’s a story of rising from the ashes and claiming glory – the Springboks’ path to reclaiming the Rugby World Cup in 2019 was one of grit, hope, pain and perseverance.

See all the behind-the-scenes moments of the journey to victory in the five-episode SuperSport documentary series, Chasing the Sun, with all episodes now available to stream on Showmax in Sub-Saharan Africa as well as other territories and countries including Australia, New Zealand, France, the Netherlands, Zambia, the United Kingdom and more.

Channel24 says “The series is filled with astounding, jaw-dropping revelations for die-hard rugby fans”.

The film crew was side by side with the team the whole way through the World Cup, and returned home with “terabytes and terabytes of footage”, explained showrunner Gareth Whittaker, saying that it was very difficult to know what to leave out. The crew had had unfettered access to the team, including at coach Rassie Erasmus’s halftime change-room team talks, and during training and briefing, scenes that fans have never got to see before.

There were also extensive interviews with players, where they got to tell the story of their journey in their own words. Whittaker told Channel24, “I think Rassie’s interview was eight hours long. We wanted to be able to tell this story as authentically as possible from as many viewpoints as possible.”

💬 "My heart was bursting. It was almost as if I'm seeing myself there but it's Siya and I'm over the moon for him because of where he comes from."
