Watch the opening scene from American Gods Season 2
We can’t wait for Season 2 of American Gods. Even this opening scene can’t slake our thirst. Do you hear us, Bilquis? We are thirsty for more!
The screen adaption of Neil Gaiman’s best-selling novel has been nothing short of visually spectacular. Season 1 of American Gods ended with war being declared and Mr Wednesday (aka Odin, Glad-of-Way, The Allfather) revealing his true identity to Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle).
With Shadow Moon now aware of his employer’s true identity, the tone of Season 2 is expected get darker: Shadow’s committed to his new purpose, and the war of the gods heats up.
Season 2 will see the Old Gods gathering at The House on the Rock – fans of the book will be familiar with the huge plot point that this gathering presents.
We can expect a lot of familiar faces as the war wages on, as well as new ones. The showrunner and Gaiman himself have been quite keen to expand on this world’s mythology. New gods and deities are going to be introduced, and if the season trailer is anything to go by, we can expect some of the existing characters to have a little more backstory.
Ian McShane reprises his role as Mr Wednesday, with Emily Browning (Laura Moon), Bruce Langley (Technical Boy), Crispin Glover (Mr World), and Yetide Badaki (Bilquis) all seeing some screen time in Season 2.
One of the questions left hanging from Season 1 is Laura. Will she tell Shadow that his new employer is responsible for her death? What will happen to the unusual winter brought on by Ostara and Mr Wednesday? Who will take over from Gillian Anderson to play Media in Season 2?
Season 2 will be available to stream on Amazon Prime from 10 March. If you can’t wait till then, here’s the official trailer:
