In August 1985, five members of the Bamber family were shot to death at White House Farm in Essex. When police were called in to investigate, they discovered only one family member left alive – Jeremy Bamber, the son of June and Nevill, the brother of Sheila, and the uncle of the young twin boys, all of whom were found dead. Jeremy alleged that Sheila, who was under treatment for schizophrenia, had committed the murder-suicide, but investigators were suspicious from the get-go.
A year later, Jeremy was convicted of all five murders, and he is currently serving a life sentence. His brother-in-law Colin Caffell, Sheila’s ex-husband, consulted on the series and made sure there was no gratuitous violence and that it was true to the memories of the victims.
This factual crime drama provides fresh insight into the tragic events of the fateful night. The Mail on Sunday wrote, “Even if you know the outcome, this is still gripping and tense and disturbingly beautiful.”
