Hold onto your space helmet for the tale of Auggie Pullman, born with rare facial defects, as he goes to school for the first time. There are all the themes you’d expect: bullying, being different, the triumph of kindness. A feel-good family movie based on the novel by Raquel J Palacio, this heart-warming story is one you won’t easily forget.
Times (UK) praises Roberts’s performances, saying she “lifts every one of her scenes in Wonder to near-sublime places”, and that the movie has “an enjoyable quirkiness about it”. Independent (UK) wrote that writer and director Stephen Chbosky’s film is so sharp and well performed that it will resonate with even the most jaded among us.
